The coffee was originally collected in Ethiopia in a region close to a mountain whose name is most commonly rendered in English as Gesha. Consequently, many in the coffee industry have preferred to rescue that spelling."

When more people, ESPECIALLY those with following & position in the coffee industry, use the real name of the variety, Gesha (the region where the variety was discovered), the confusion with female Japanese entertainers goes away. That the SCA also uses the incorrect name is not nearly the flex you imagine.
As coffee professionals you could help to clear the confusion, or not.
The variety is called Gesha because it is originally from Gesha, Ethiopia. Using Geisha is incorrect, confusing, & an insult to Japanese culture.
It's called GESHA.
