A lesser known fact about the coffee plant is the flowering process, triggered by the first rains which are also known as the ‘blossom shower.’ The bunched flowers have an intense smell, and it’s nothing like coffee! In fact, it is quite similar to jasmine.
Around the world coffee beans are sorted according to standard sizes using sieves, but the terminology used for the different sizes varies from region to region. E.g. Kenya and India use terms like AA and AB, whereas in Columbia you’ll see terms like Supremo and Excelso.
The Orea is a very interesting flat-bottom, pour over brewer manufactured by a company in the UK. It sports smooth walls, a steeper taper and 5 large holes at the bottom to increase the flow rate.
