1 Fun Thing
As most of you know, we are big believers in creating rituals. But it doesn’t need to be limited to solo and/or leisure activities — it can even change how you think about work! Team rituals, even silly ones, lead to a 16% increase in how meaningful employees view their work to be.
3 Facts
Reheating coffee isn’t bad for you, but it’s one of the easiest ways to make a good cup of coffee taste nasty. Volatile compounds in coffee contribute to its heady smells and wonderful flavours; reheating expedites the release of these compounds, leaving you with a bitter, brown liquid. At least it’s hot and still has caffeine…?
Beautiful coffee beans should be displayed in a glass jar on your counter, right? Wrong! Coffee begins to lose its freshness almost immediately after roasting, and exposure to air, moisture, light and heat only makes things worse. Ideally, beans should be stored in an opaque air-tight container. You can even portion it out, so that you don’t repeatedly expose the beans to air when you open the jar.
Coffee cherries are complex little fruits made up of 7 layers (pic below). While the bean is what we roast and brew, the surrounding layers and the amount of time the bean spends in the fruit, both before and after picking, have a massive impact on how the coffee will taste.
