1 Fun Thing
“Even bad coffee is better than no coffee at all.” - American filmmaker, David Lynch. Do you agree?
3 Facts
Did you know that according to data from the Coffee Board of India, 99% (!) of Indian coffee farms are smallholder (< 10 hectares or 25 acres)? Yet, almost all of the specialty coffee we consume tends to be from large farms and estates, often several hundreds or even over a thousand acres in size.
The Ross Droplet Technique (RDT) is the process of mixing a small drop of water into your coffee beans, or spritzing them lightly before grinding. Just adding this simple step to your coffee routine drastically reduces static and prevents grounds from clinging to the grinder, which means you avoid creating a mess and also reduce waste.
Coffee can go through up to two cracks during the roasting process. The first sounds like popcorn popping, and the second more like crackling, and is a result of built up steam and trapped gases forcefully exiting the bean.
That’s it from here! And until next week, brew ārāmse.
