5 years ago, Roger Federer made a “pinky promise” to a young boy, Zizou, that he would continue to play tennis for another 8-9 years so that Zizou could play him when he turned pro. In June 2022, Federer surprised Zizou in an elaborate ploy, to uphold that very promise!
3 Coffee Facts
Coffea liberica is the least well-known of the 3 species of coffee (the 2 more popular ones being Arabica and Robusta), accounting for only 1.5% of global commercial production. Though originally from Liberia, West Africa, it is currently grown and consumed primarily in SE Asia, with the Philippines responsible for ~70% of grown coffee. It has the lowest caffeine, and largest beans. The asymmetric bean has one longer side, creating a ‘hooked’ top.
Cometeer have redefined ‘instant coffee’. Their proprietary process entails optimised brewing followed by rapid cooling to -321F to lock in most of the flavour and freshness, creating little frozen blocks of coffee that are mixed with hot water and enjoyed.
If you don’t enjoy the muted acidity and oxidised flavours in cold brews, then a Japanese style iced pour over may be up your alley. Brewed with less water, and finer ground coffee over a bed of ice, you retain vibrancy and freshness and can still enjoy a cold drink.
