Acaia has unveiled the Ion Beam, a device meant to neutralize the static charge of ground coffee leaving a grinder. It will be on sale following the debut at the SCA Expo on April 21-23. The purpose is to minimize static electricity in coffee grounds that have built up either a positive or negative charge during grinding, depending on factors such as the coffee’s roast level, the style of grinder and atmospheric conditions.
The idroprep is the first ever hydroforming tamper that uses a gel instead of a hard metal surface to compact the coffee grounds evenly.

So be sure to research companies and products thoroughly before making environmentally conscious decisions.
