Organic food sales in the US have nearly doubled from $31 billion to $61.7 billion from 2013 to 2022. This includes roughly $2.3 billion for coffee, making the change in USDA certification very important for coffee too. Starting March 2024, not just farms, but all sales brokers, commodity traders, importers and exporters of organic coffee will have to be certified. Previously, these actors used to be excluded from the requirement of organic certification.
